EDUCATION WORLD'S MILLENIUM SERIES PRESENTS...
The Great Explorers!

This week, Education World presents the second in our year-long Millennium Series. Last month we explored the Middle Ages; this month we turn our sites to the great explorers of the millennium. In the stories listed below you'll find resources and activities for exploring the great explorers -- from Leif Eriksson to Neil Armstrong!

This week:

  • Lessons of the Explorers!
What kinds of people choose a life of exploration, adventure, and danger --- and where would we be without them? Your students will answer those questions as they investigate explorers and determine their impact on our world in 12 simple classroom activities!

  • Explore the World --- Virtually!
Grab your students and hop on board! This week, Education World scoured the Internet to find online adventures ---virtual trips--- that will challenge students to explore their world!

  • A New Twist on Explorers!
Workman Publishing introduces Explorers, the latest in its Fandex Family Field Guide series. The unique format of this new "book" will engage young historians and motivate them to explore 50 of the greatest adventurers in history.

  • Great Sites for Teaching About... Explorers
Each week, Education World's "Great Sites" page highlights Web sites to help educators work timely themes into their lessons. This week's sites are among the best on the Web for teaching about explorers.
