When buying back-to-school supplies at Walmart July 25-31, teachers will receive an eGift Card reflecting 10 percent back on the total spent.
Steve Bratspies, executive vice president of general merchandise for Walmart U.S., told 5newsonline.com that on average, each teacher spends about $1,000 on school supplies and pays for at least half with his/her own money.
"Some kids do come to class without school supplies just because they can't afford it," said Julie Clark, a third-grade teacher. "I usually go out and buy supplies for them on my own, so it's nice to have a set already so I don't have to spend my own dime on it."
Teachers can register their receipts to receive the percentage back online by August 15.
