In the article, writer and high school physics and astronomy teacher Greg Schwanbeck gives 18 of his own personal tips for new teachers this year.

Among his list of tips was to create a Twitter account and to abstain from giving out candy or food as an incentive or reward. He also gives new teachers a few famous quotes from movies or inspirational leaders.

"Never pass up a chance for a Friday afternoon beer with colleagues," he finishes. "These opportunities will be both educational and cathartic.
