Students and Teachers Learn Side by Side at Summer Program

At Belaire High School, Greenbrier Elementary and Park Forest Middle Schools, 42 teachers-in-training work alongside 200 students in hopes of gaining certification through an alternative program called Certification Solutions. "They have been hand-picked to serve in this role based upon their demonstrated teaching ability and their ability to coach and serve as an effective model for program participants," said Jaime Finane, director of Certification Solutions.

Sixty-six other practitioner teachers work in summer schools in districts around Baton Rouge. Certification Solutions is a branch of Louisiana Resource Center for Educators, which provides educator training.
