Teachers from a number of district and charter schools in Philidelphia were asked what they loved about teaching, and their responses were moving.
Teachers Lead Philly, a group dedicated to promoting teacher leadership, came together to write answers to the question, according to thenotebook.org. Their responses described a love for the profession as well as their motivations, frustrations, concerns and more.
"Teaching in Philly is challenging," said Melanie Berlin from Mastery Charter School Mann Elementary. "But the challenge keeps me going. My students relentlessly challenge what I thought I knew about kids and teaching. My colleagues challenge me to expand my perspective and step out of my classroom bubble. The families I work with challenge me to have high expectations and broaden my definition of family."
