Why do parents enroll their children in online schools? Connections Academy, a free public school for students outside of the traditional classroom, has some answers.
The results are in from the Connections Academy 2014 Parent Satisfaction Survey, and reasons for choosing online education range from a change in setting, safer environments for their chilren, scheduling and more, according to MarketWatch.com.
All families with students in the program were invited to participate in the survey, and 45 percent responded, totaling 18,000 survey responses.
The survey revealed that parents gave Connections Academy high grades for "academic rigor, program flexibility, quality teachers and for delivering high levels of student achievement."
"I love that the teachers are understanding and available," said one parent, Michele Omvig. "They stay connected with my children and me. I also love that as a parent I can log on to any computer anywhere and see what is happening in my children's education in each class."
The survey also revealed that 84 percent of parents in the program are more satisfied with the virtual school than their child's previous school, and 92 percent would recommend the school to other parents.
