Andrew Lampart, a senior student at Woodbury, CT’s Nonnewaug High School, was unable to access the National Rifle Association research he needed for a student debate on gun control. Why? Because the website was blocked at his school.
The NRA site, in addition to other sites aligned with conservative and religious viewpoints (such as Christianity.com and the National Right to Life site), weren’t accessible from the high school’s computers, reported TheBlaze.com. Even the Connecticut GOP site was blocked.
Counterparts to these sites, such as the state Democrat site and Planned Parenthood site, were not blocked, however.
Lampart brought this information to local media as well as the Board of Education, calling his experience with the blocked sites "appalling."
