Matthew Mingle, in an Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development article, provides teachers tips on preparing their cover letters and resumes.
For example, he offers this advice: "Your resume is one of many (possibly thousands) that will be reviewed for the job opening. Do not save the most important information for the end; get to the most important information first or it might not get read at all."
Mingle does caution that every administrator, school and district looks at different things when screening applicants.
