School lunches in schools across the country have been scrutinized for some time now, and different efforts have been put in place to make school lunches healthier.
All of this school lunch reform may get others thinking, what do school lunches look like around the world? Buzzfeed recently shares this answer with photos of school lunches in countries including Japan, South Korea, Israel, Ukraine, and Singapore.
Under the first photo, depicting the school lunch in Japan, the caption reads, "fried fish, dried seaweed, tomatoes, miso soup with potatoess, rice in a metal container, served with milk." Underneath the photo is a school lunch from Austin, Texas.
"Turkey taco salad, mashed potatoes, peach cobbler, and iced tea," it read.
The portion size seems to vary throughout the photos, with different photos representing each culture.
Under the photo for Chennai, India, the caption reads: "Lentil soup, snake gourd, rice, curd, and kesari, served with buttermilk."
