App Review: iStoryBooks Can Enhance Your Classroom Library

What does it promise?: iStoryBooks promises a collection of 25 free children story books with captivating pictures, text and even audio for young readers. The book promises a way for kids to get interested in reading and have fun while doing so. It’s essentially a library filled with some of the most memorable children’s books for ages 2-8.

Does it deliver?: Yes. iStoryBooks is very visually appealing at first glance. The photos are fun and relatable to young readers. Books like Things That Go, Little Red Riding Hood, The Ugly Duckling and Cinderella are just a few of the great collection that the app provides. The app is also very easy to use. Simply go to the library and add one of the books to your personal library, giving you unlimited access to the students or child’s favorite book. There is an option to have the book set in movie mode that will run the app as a slide show. Books can also be read from the audio mode-giving educators or parents a way for their child to enjoy the books if they are unable to read to them.

Can I use it in my classroom?: Yes. If you are a teacher who enjoys reading to your class, this app is a great tool. You immediately have popular titles at your fingertips without having to purchase them. The photos are clear enough for children to gather around you and enjoy and the stories are full of beloved characters that they will enjoy as well.
