Encouraging young children to read during the summer can be difficult. With temptations such as the beach, pool and outdoor activities with friends, young students may not be willing to slow down and pick up a book.
Scholastic can help--on its Web site, find 65 book trailers to build excitement for summer reading.
"Books will fly off the shelf and straight into your students' hands when they watch these quick video booktalks and book trailers," said the article. "The videos...are in the form of video booktalks, similar to an in-class booktalk, and video book trailers, similar to a movie trailer but about a book. They are a fun, visual way for students to preview the books that might interest them."
The books range from The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle for beginners to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins for high-schoolers.
