2016 List of Best U.S. K-12 Schools Released

Niche has just released its 2016 rankings of the nation’s best public high schools, examining over 100,000 schools in areas such as “academics, teachers, student culture and diversity, resources, and facilities,” to arrive at its findings, said Business Insider.

"By incorporating millions of opinions from more than 300,000 students and parents, dozens of statistical factors, and millions of student outcomes, we're confident these are the most comprehensive K-12 school and district rankings to date,” Niche said of its methodology. 

The Niche K-12 rankings provide a comprehensive analysis of the nation’s K-12 schools, including an extensive breakdown on how schools are succeeding.

The best public high school on the list, for example, is Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan, NY.

The best school district, however, is Tredyffrin-Easttown School District in Tredyffrin Township, PA, which was founding after taking into consider " state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, student and parent reviews, and more.” 

The list even separates charter schools and magnet schools to give each their “best of” list. The best charter school in the U.S., the list found, is Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science & Technology in Lawrenceville Township, GA; the best magnet schools is Young Magnet High School in Chicago, IL. 

Meanwhile, the list also divides U.S. high schools into categories such as “best teachers,” “best food,” and even safest.

The most diverse this year is Central High School in Philadelphia, PA, beating out the list’s best magnet school by only one spot.

Though Niche provides the most information on high schools, it also ranks the nation’s best middle schools and elementary schools, providing rankings for best academics, teachers, and diversity for each one as well.
