Florida Indian River Groves
About the Program:  Florida Indian River Groves is a provider of school fruit-sale fundraisers. Students take orders for 10-pound cases of citrus fruit, and then it’s freshly picked, packed and shipped. Though the company has a 10,000-pound minimum limit for school orders, they will sometimes accept smaller orders as well. Schools set the price for the fruit, though the company does offer guidelines for retail pricing.

Support Available for Schools:  The company provides a good deal of support, including fundraising kits that come with support materials like step-by-step instructions, free product brochures and order forms. The school decides which fruits are included in the sale and when to have the sale, subject to the product’s availability schedule. Although the company delivers, schools do need to unload and distribute the cargo themselves.

Bottom Line:  This is a great fundraiser for a school with devoted families that are apt to participate in fundraising activities. It will require an aggressive parent volunteer to spearhead the efforts -- both in getting the orders and also in completing fulfillment. A calculator on the Florida Indian River Groves site indicates that schools could bring in thousands through this program.
