Mr. Ivan, The Principal Poet

Summer Vacation

Share

I've waited for this day for months
School is finally out!
No tests or grades for ninety days.
I let out a mighty shout.

No need for books or pencils.
My homework's really lost.
All projects to the trashcan.
My backpack must be tossed.

The final bell! I race for home
To play in my backyard,
But skidding to a sudden stop
The truth just hit me hard.

I'm thirty minutes into summer.
The school year's finally through,
But I'm already feeling bored.
Without school, what's there to do?
