Five Resources for International Women's Day

March 8 is International Women's Day, a global celebration of the economic, political, academic, and social achievements of women past, present and future. Teachers will want to use this day, not to mention the entire month, to celebrate women. 

Education World has gathered a list of resources and websites teachers can use in their classroom to celebrate International Women's Day. This list includes information, lesson plans, and other activities for teachers to use:

  1. InternationalWomensDay.com: This site offers teachers a list of videos teachers can use in the classroom. One of the videos is a message by UN Women's Executive Director, and another is from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. 
  2. UNWomen.org: On UNWomen.org, educators can access background information on International Women's Day, news, speeches and messages, and more. 
  3. TeacherVision.com: Here, teachers can grab a free printable that will educate their students about the significance of March 8, and suggested activities. 
  4. GlobalDimension.org: This site offers a list of teaching resources and topic ideas for educators on International Women's Day. 
  5. PBS News Hour Lesson Plans: This site has a list of International Women's Day lesson plans teachers can use in the classroom.
