App Review: Penguins of Madagascar: Dibble Dash

App Name: Penguins of Madagascar: Dibble Dash

Cost: Free

What does it promise?:The Penguins of Madagascar: Dibble Dash promises a fun interactive way for children 6-10 to learn simple mathematics. The game promises unlockable features all packed in an adventure filled world of fun.

Does it deliver?: Yes but within its own limits. The overall appeal of the game comes from the popularity of the Penguins of Madagascar movie. The characters are fun and the storyline is interesting. When it comes to learning mathematics, it’s more sprinkled in until you run further on in the game. This does become effective later on because it enables the player to click on the math problems that equal to the sum provided ahead. This can work as a memorization tool and help children remember the solutions to simple math problems without having to take a second thought. When the penguins are captured by the smoked salmon vending machine, players need to answer the multiplication, division, addition or subtraction problem swiftly to escape the trap.

Can I use it in the classroom?: No. This is yet another game that is best suited for the home or on the go, rather than in the classroom. It’s very fun to play but it can be distracting in a classroom environment. Students who need practice at home can play the game and solve math problems on the way for extra practice. It serves as a good home alternative to television or other games that can be unproductive or non-educational.
