Source of All Mass Found

CernDecades after it was first theorized, scientists have proven the existence of the Higgs boson, or “God Particle” that is responsible for creating mass. The achievement confirms the standard model of physics and can potentially lead to explanations as to how mass in the Universe came to be.

The discovery was made by experiments running through the giant Large Hadron Collider at the Swiss research facility. Two teams had independently observed a particle consistent with the Higgs, which has until now been theoretical.

The Higgs boson was predicted by Edinburgh-based particle physicist Peter Higgs in the mid-1960s. Higgs was in the audience at this morning's press conference.

Radical!

Are you a RAD teacher?

No~ not a cool teacher or a Radical person who catches waves on their surfboard.

Rather~ RAD stands for reflect~ adjust~ deliver.

I think good teachers reflect on their practices--and not just test scores. Yes~ its a must to reflect on test scores and data and make adjustments in instruction~ but I think you should go far beyond that. The great thing about summer (besides time off and a chance to recharge) is that it gives teachers a chance to reflect...

Making a Difference

The letter started off by stating You have no idea the impact you have had on my childs life during this short school year.

Count Up!

Today~ I pulled out a super soaker squirt gun and blasted my students in the middle of class. Oh yes~ I calmly removed it from a bin where I had been hiding it and let loose. They screamed~ they jumped~ and yelled "What's going on?"

After the smoke cleared and the children settled down~ I simply said:

"What you have just experienced is an act of terrorism."

I then led into my lesson on terrorism and how it is unexpected~ shocking and violent. Later~ the class watched...

Weve all been there before. Its just weeks or days before summer vacation. The students have mentally checked out~ and maybe you have as well. The class has completed standardized testing~ grades are in~ and maybe as in my case~ students already have graduated and received their diploma.
