REVIEW:
This story is part of the Strings in the Mountains Web site. Strings in the Mountains is a music festival at Steamboat Springs, Colorado. For six weeks each summer, the festival presents concerts for adults and children. "Mozart's Magical Musical Life" was one of the stories told at the "Children's Concert." The story is told in a very straight-forward manner. The author uses simple vocabulary and a basic writing style, which makes it useful for lower elementary grades. The story retells many famous anecdotes about Mozart's life and describes many of his accomplishments. Sound files of excerpts of Mozart's works are scattered throughout the story. This is a good site for elementary teachers to introduce an Internet music lesson into the classroom. Music teachers may find it useful for enhancing a unit on classical music.
