REVIEW:
The National Association of Elementary School Principals' goal is to help "principals do the best possible job in leading their schools to excellence". To do this NAESP provides information on training programs, conferences, publications and its National Distinguished Principals Program. The website also has information on membership benefits including legal assistance, salary and contract review, and services for students. NAESP also "acts as an advocate for the principalship with state, local, and federal governments and the news media." This site provides information but also acts as a gathering place for principals to exchange information and ideas and to discuss education issues. The main menu includes information on joining NAESP, the Principals Forum, online articles, the Ernest Boyer/Carnegie Foundation plan for elementary schooling (The Basic School), student services, special projects and professional development programs. There is also a link to the Department of Education's searchable database for doing online research. This is definitely a site all K-8 principals should bookmark and check into frequently.
