REVIEW:
Let's rock! --- Check out this large set of lesson plans that uses the history of Rock and Roll to teach lessons that span the curriculum and give insight into the significance of the role Rock and Roll has played in the evolution of American society. The first group of lessons looks into the roots of Rock and Roll where lyrical European folk and religious music blend with the strong rhythmic foundations of African American slave music. As you move down the list, the lessons begin to explore individual artists and songs, and have intriguing titles such as From Mark Twain to David Bowie: The Artistic Persona vs. The Individual, and Witchy Women: The Salem Witch Trials. Click on Get Schooling in the navigational sidebar to find the main page of the education department. Here click on Programs for Schools and Teachers which includes information about So You Want To Be a Rock and Roll Teacher? - The Annual Summer Institute for Secondary Teachers (on using Rock and Roll themes as a teaching tool). Cruise the rest of the site to find out about the Hall of Fame inductees and the top 500 Rock and Roll songs of all time. A rocking resource!
