CONTENT:
Rendezvous with History is presented by the Poughkeepsie Journal. It offers information and other resources about the grounds and buildings of Hyde Park, New York, the family estate of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
SITE DESIGN:
This interactive site is well designed and easily navigated. The top navigation bar links to the five major sections of the site. Each section has clearly defined links for exploring within the area. Special plug-ins are required for viewing the virtual reality tours.
 

REVIEW:
Teachers and students alike will find this site an interesting supplement to the study of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the historic site complete with 360-degree views and an interactive map of the grounds. Get a close up, inside view of the Presidential Library and Museum, the visitor center and the Roosevelt's residence, Springwood including the "Fireside Chat Room" and FDR's bedroom. A collection of essays offers more information about the lives and legacy of the Roosevelts and includes transcripts of such notable speeches as the declaration of war on Japan. The photograph gallery also provides slide shows of the grounds, home, library and visitor center. Included is a timeline of important events related to the estate and links to other related resources.
