CONTENT:
Dole 5 A Day has been around for a while and does an excellent job of encouraging elementary school children to eat their fruits and vegetables every day for good health. It includes facts and fun, interactive activities.
AESTHETICS:
The site has bright, child-friendly graphics in a well-designed layout. Flash Player is required.
ORGANIZATION:
Navigation through the site is user-friendly. There is a top menu bar that gives access to the various areas of the site as well as graphic links on the main page.
REVIEW:
This is a must-see site for good nutrition! Kids will love getting the facts from their friends Juanita Watermelon, Amber Orange, the Green Pea Gang, Peter Peach, and more. The information is presented in a way that will keep students coming back for more. The fun and engaging activities include a detective game, comics, songs, videos, and coloring pages. A nutrition database and a cookbook for kids are also available. At the bottom of the page you will find a link for teachers that has everything you need to get your students excited about eating fruits and vegetables. It includes cross-curricular lesson plans, suggestions for using the kids' pages, a toolkit, and much more. There is also a section for parents that includes tips for getting kids to eat more fruits and vegetables.
