The Mark Twain House
Educational site based on the long-time home of America's true comic genius.
Grade Level: 3-5, 6-8

This site provides information on one of America's greatest writers and the home where he lived and worked from 1874 to 1891.
This well designed site is user-friendly, attractive and filled with great photographs.
The top navigation bar provides to each area of the site. Three areas are of particular interest to students and teachers: The Man and His House, Just for Kids, and Teaching Twain.
The Mark Twain house in Hartford, Connecticut, was home to the noted American writer while he wrote some of his most famous works. Information on upcoming events at the house and membership information are available, but the areas most useful to teachers and students are The Man and His House, Just for Kids, and Teaching Twain. Visitors to the site can read about the house, which has one of the few remaining Tiffany-designed interiors, and take a virtual tour or view the timeline of Twain's life in Connecticut. There are printable activities for kids and a sample elementary lesson plan available.
