CONTENT:
Care for Animals, presented by the American Veterinary Medical Association, teaches children about the responsibilities associated with caring for their pets in a fun, entertaining way.
AESTHETICS:
The layout of the site is simple with wide margins for a neat appearance and adorable, child-friendly graphics. Macromedia's Flash Player is needed for viewing parts of the site.
ORGANIZATION:
The four main areas of the site are clearly identified in the top navigation bar and the easy-to-follow navigation index on the left side of the page.
REVIEW:
The site is divided into four main areas: Animated Journeys, Paws for Pets, Pet Stories, and Kids Corner. Students will particularly enjoy learning about how to care for dogs, cats, birds, or whatever their pet may be in the interactive Animated Journeys. Each record has a link to more, detailed information of interest to teachers and parents. The Kids Corner features work sheets and coloring pages devoted to teaching children the basics of caring for their pets. Included at the site are various articles on pet care by a veterinarian and pet stories submitted by users.
