alt text here

App Name: CK-12 Math & Science

Cost: Free

What does it promise? The CK-12 Math and Science app promises a fun way for students in levels of CK to the grade 12 to learn and brush up on their math and science skills. It also promises to allow students to learn at their own pace by using material created and curated by teachers.

CK-12 is a non-profit that creates and curates high quality STEM content for students and teachers around the world. The organization was founded with the mission to enable everyone to learn in his or her own way - for free.” - iTunes

Does it deliver? Yes. The app is almost overwhelming when you consider how much material it contains and how many topics are covered throughout the entire tool. Some of the topics include, elementary math, time, measurement, and money, place values, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, Earth science, life science, biology and many more.

It’s one of the largest compilations of free information that this reviewer has come across in some time. The fact that the app is free is also a plus because it makes it easier for students and teachers to concentrate on the material and now where to find it or how costly it will be when it comes to the budget.

The app is clean and organized, which is great when there is such a wide array of material. Students can pick lessons based on where they are struggling or what they are learning at the moment. There is a lesson for almost everything math and science making it a good resource for educators as well.

Can I use it in the classroom? Sometimes educators might struggle to find lessons or materials to help them in the classroom. Due to the fact that the CK-12 app is so extensive, it allows educators to search for the perfect lesson or homework assignment for their students. One thing to mention about this app is that you have to sign up for an account but it is very simple. There is also a search option, which makes it easier to narrow down the information you are looking for. All in all it’s a very useful application.
