One of the fastest-growing social media platforms of all time, Pinterest continues to be a great place for educators to share ideas. Building upon our initial list of Pinterest Power Pinners, EducationWorld offers five more profiles for educators to watch.
While our previous collection of profiles focused on individuals, the list below highlights groups, organizations and other collectives.
Boards: Classroom Ideas, Books Worth Reading, Products I Love, Science Projects, etc.
Why We Love It: Let’s be honest—USA Today is a premium brand, and the paper’s education content is tremendous. Its Pinterest presence stands out because of its diversity, covering everything from fun classroom snack ideas to creative learning ideas, to educator fashion.
Boards: Education Technology, Opinions, Culture, etc.
Why We Love It: This is a case of great K-12 content hiding behind a name. The Times focuses on post-secondary education, but the content here is certainly appropriate for the K-12 educator. Technology use in the classroom is a topic that applies to all grade levels, and the opinions pieces here are thought-provoking.
Boards: Wildlife Discovery Day, Earth Caretakers, Family Fun Events, etc.
Why We Love It: Here are a bunch of photographs from the activities organized by an environmental education center in the UK. While the pictures are cute, their real value is in the ideas they inspire. For example, who would have thought to have students make Tree Sprites or study dragonfly nymphs?
Boards: Stand Tall Series, Book Club, Classroom Management, Science on a Budget, etc.
Why We Love It: We Are Teachers has it all. Professional development, lesson ideas, best practices—you name it, they have it. One of a teacher’s best tools is a diverse pool of resource providers, and this group belongs in that pool.
Boards: Teachers Rock, Elementary Education, Literacy, Tech Ed, etc.
Why We Love It: They don’t pigeonhole themselves in terms of a single grade level. This is an equal-opportunity group that offers something for early-learning, elementary-level, middle-school and high-school educators. They also offer a particularly good Tech Ed area.
