Teacher research is research conceived and executed by teachers and carried out in their classrooms and schools. Teacher researchers study such issues as the best way to organize group activities, the best way to teach reading or how girls and boys respond to the same science curriculum, according to Living the Questions: A Guide for Teacher-Researchers by Ruth Shagoury Hubbard and Brenda Miller Power. The goal is for teachers to observe situations and then respond to those observations.
Teacher research has been growing in popularity because many educators found that the topics of traditional education research did not apply to their every day work.
