Celebrate Mother's Day in a New Way

Share

mother's day graphicTired of doing the same Mother's Day projects year after year? Take a look at five new lesson plans we've created to celebrate mothers on their special day! These lessons include math activities with a "mother" theme (studying data about mothers in the workforce), learning about the history of silhouettes (and actually making one), and turning old shoes into planters that are bound to sprout wonderful new memories! Included: Mother's Day coupons for students to give to Mom!

Since 1914 -- when Mother's Day was first celebrated as a national holiday in the United States -- the second Sunday in May has always been a special day for children and their mothers. This week, Education World provides five lessons to help you work Mother's Day into your classroom curriculum. Try some Mother's Day Math, turn an old shoe into a memorable gift, or have students consider some simple gifts of time they can give to Mom on her special day. You will find those three activities and two more immediately below. Click any of the five lesson headlines for a complete teaching resource. (Approximate grade levels for each activity appear in parentheses.)
