Recognize a Staff
"Family Member
Of the Week"

Share

One easy way to solidify your school's support team and a build a strong sense of community is to select a staff "family member" for special recognition each week. This recognition can be as simple as an announcement on the P.A. on Monday morning, or as elaborate as a special bulletin board display or an article in a local newspaper, the school newsletter, or the school's Web site.

Teachers and students might even be invited to share comments about the person. Those comments might be read during the morning announcements and included in the display or news article.

When I was a principal, I did both P.A. announcements and bulletin board displays to recognize our Family Member of the Week. One year, I even got a supply of coupons for complimentary meals at a local restaurant. I presented those as I recognized our family members.
