This competition from San Francisco’s Exploratorium showcases science teachers as they devise demonstrations that can be used in the classroom around an everyday item. The Web site is an archive of the best Iron Science Teacher competitions.

PBS Nature Interactives

National Sea Grant Library: Digital Libraries
Super site about the seas, with an ocean of teaching resources.

The National Sea Grant Digital Libraries offer a wealth of resources for educators on a variety of coastal and marine subjects including oceanography, marine education, aquaculture, fisheries, aquatic nuisance species, coastal hazards, seafood safety, coastal zone management, marine recreation, and law. The collection is housed at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography

National Geographic: Kids

National Geographic for Kids contains age appropriate multimedia learning materials, games, activities, videos, photo galleries, maps and much more to make learning fun and engaging.

Cascades Volcano Observatory: Educational Outreach
An explosion of resources on volcanoes; includes videos.

The Open Vault
WGBH TV archive 1968-1993 – a gold mine of teachable video clips.

The Open Vault, presented by public television station WGBH’s Media Library (MLA), is a free resource available to enhance classroom lesson plans and students' independent study. It provides access to select video clips and interview transcripts drawn from WGBH program archive from 1968-1993.
