Create a Book on Tape

Share

Students worked hard all week? Do they deserve a special reward for a job well done? This activity will offer students a nice break from structured learning. Adapt it to fit your needs. Have some Friday Fun!

DESCRIPTION

This lesson is a fun reward activity. It might be completed over a couple Friday Fun time slots. It also has possibilities for being a good holiday-time community service project.

In this activity, students read aloud favorite books as they record their readings.

  • Young students might record books for their teacher to use with younger students at the start of the next school year.
  • Elementary-grade students might record books that young children will like. They might give the books on tape to teachers in the younger grades or to the school librarian. Or their books on tape might be donated to a local homeless shelter or children's home.
  • Older students might record books on tape for younger children. Or they might record books or magazine articles that are of interest to older people in the community who are visually impaired.
