Who is the only member of congress to vote against declaring war on Japan in 1941. Peace-loving Jeannette Rankin could not support the wore. Born in Montana on June 11, 1880, Rankin worked hard to earn woman the right to vote. To learn more about conditions some women faced, she even worked as a seemstress! Rankin was the first woman swore in as a member of the U.S. Congress that happenned in 1916.
