Could an article inspire you to write a book. It happen to Scott O'Dell. When O'Dell was doing research about california history, he discovered the story of a young indian girl named Karana who spent 18 years alone on San Nicolas island. O'Dells book, Island of the Blue Dolphins told her story. It also one a Newbery medal. A former newspaperman, O'Dell published more then 26 books for children. He was born on May 23, 1898.
