On May 11, 1858 Minnesota became the 32nd state. Minnesota get it's name from a Dakota indian word that means "water that reflects the sky. Thousands of years ago Minnesota was cover by glaciers. As the glaciers melted, lakes and rivers formed. Have you ever herd Minnesota called the "Land of 10,000 Lakes? The state actually has more than 12,000 Lakes. It has more shoreline than California Florida and Hawaii combined!
