Bessie Coleman was born in Texas on January 26, 1893. When she hurd tales of World War I fliers, Bessie was convince that she had to learn to fly. In the United States, how ever, African-American women like Bessie wasn't permitted to become pilots. So Bessie traveled to france where she earned her pilots' license when Bessie returned to the United States, fans cheered her and she encouraged other's to follow in her foot steps.
