Brief Description

Students write a persuasive essay to persuade their superiors on a faraway planet to adopt a custom, a behavior, or an item (for example, baseball, shopping, or a vacuum cleaner) they observed on a visit to Earth.

Objectives

Students will
  • select a custom, a behavior, or an item to write about;
  • consider all the reasons an alien culture might want to adopt this Earthly custom, behavior, or item;
  • write a persuasive argument for adopting the Earthly custom, behavior, or item;
  • include five strong reasons in their arguments.
