Materials Needed

Lesson Plan

Depending on the number of computers available, students can complete this lesson as a whole group or independently.

  • Explore with students, or ask students to independently explore, the eight ways of checking Web site information on The Quality Information Checklist. Encourage students to take the online quiz after they complete the tutorial.
  • Provide each student or pair of students with a copy of The Quality Information Checklist and the URL of a content-related Web site. Assign the same URL to several students or pairs of students.
  • Ask students to evaluate their assigned Web sites and complete the evaluation forms.
  • Encourage students who have evaluated the same Web sites to compare their results.

Assessment

Evaluate students on the information in their Web site evaluation forms.
