Encourage students to enter contests. Whether the contest is a writing contest sponsored by local library, an opportunity to be published in a city newspaper's holiday edition, the PTA's Art Reflection Contest, or a national competition, knowing they are competing and that someone besides their own teacher will be reviewing their work motivates students to do their best work.
