Planning for a New School Year
Get ready for the first day of school with templates, videotapes, and postcards.
What's In a Name? Save back-to-school preparation time by using Education World's Back-to-School Templates to create student nametags. Starring... Provide parents with a list of supplies to send with their children on the first day of school. Include on the list a blank videotape. Once a month -- or more often, if possible -- invite parent volunteers to come in and videotape each student participating in a classroom activity. The videotapes make excellent end-of-the-year mementos. Wish You Were Here A week or two before the first day of school, send a postcard to each student in your class. Introduce yourself, explain what they'll be studying during the coming year, and mention some of the activities you've planned. Provide a silly assignment for students to complete before school begins.
