WOW, Watermelon!A fun end-of-year bulletin board gets students thinking about summer.
DIRECTIONSServe watermelon as a snack for children. Then collect and wash all the seeds. Dry the seeds overnight. Then give each student two pre-cut half ovals. (Older students can create these by themselves.) The large oval half is green; a slightly smaller oval half is red. Invite students to glue the red half onto the green half to create a slice of watermelon. Then have them glue seeds to their red watermelon slices. Finally, ask students what their favorite summer things are. Record what they say along the watermelon rind; older students can do that on their own. Display the watermelons on an end-of-the-year bulletin board. MORE RESOURCES FROM EDUCATION WORLDFind more bulletin board ideas in our Bulletin Boards That Teach Archive.
