Book Report Makeover: Movie ScriptsEach week, Education World offers a new idea to help you "make over" boring book report formats. If you're looking for a way to spice up book reports -- and truly engage students in reading -- you've come to the right place. Check out this week's makeover idea
Readers become screenwriters in this novel activity.
Arrange students into small groups and assign each group to write a movie script for a favorite scene in a book the class has read. (Students might use one of the free Screenstyler templates to format their scripts.) Encourage students to include in the script casting suggestions; which real-life TV or movie stars would they assign to play each role?
When the scripts are complete, encourage students to perform their favorite scene for their classmates.
