When the organization StudentsFirst asked contest entrants to describe “what it means to be a great teacher” in only six words, 28,000 responded with heartfelt, inspiring and personal essays.
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Education World has reprinted the essays with permission from StudentsFirst, a national grassroots movement defending the interests of students in education. The essays originally appeared on StudentsFirst.org.
Share these great soundbites with your teachers to let them know how much you appreciate them. And why not challenge students and parents to write their own six-word essays honoring the dedicated educators in your building?
