Action: The Power of Traditions

  • Traditions play a key role in our society. Traditions compel us to eat cake on our birthday~ toast the coming of a new year~ send cards to sweethearts on days set aside for love~ display our flags to celebrate our national pride~ ignite fireworks to honor our independence~ stuff ourselves with turkey as we give thanks~ and exchange presents during many religious holidays.
  • School traditions play a key role in the rhythms of our schools. Traditions allow us new beginnings~ countdown days until commencement~ honor seniors~ encourage the silliness of youth~ and remember holidays for their true meaning via assemblies. As we gather today at our school to sing The Twelve Days of Christmas~ we honor the spirit of the holiday~ the meaning of the season~ the foundation of our school~ and the joy of the season.
  • As teachers~ we are indeed caregivers. Please~ prioritize time this season to:
  • Relax-with family and friends~ and do nothing but listen to the youngest and the oldest in your life;
  • Remember-why we have this season and what it means to the world
  • Refresh-your faith and hope
  • Renew-your commitment to peace and joy!
  • Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy New Year!
  • Be a teacher of peace and model calmness for all!
