If you're wondering how technically advanced students in America's educational system are today, just take a look at the student award winners of Education World's "Cool School of the Week".
Every week Education World reviews hundreds of school Internet Web sites from across the country and chooses the best site to become the new Cool School of the Week. This coveted award is given to school Web sites that best illustrate several qualities:
- visual appeal
- creativity and originality
- community involvement or connection
- use of technology
- value to the students and school
- easy to access and use
- integration of curriculum on-line
- practical applications in the educational setting
"The students work together as a team to create a great on-line resource that brings together both the school and the community," said Rob York, president of Education World. "They put a lot of time and work into creating these sites. We are honored to be able to recognize them for their hard work and achievements."
Cool School award winners receive a commemorative plaque for their school, a hot link to the Education World Web site, Cool School award certificates for members of the Web site development team, exclusive Cool School T-shirts and mouse pads, plus a Cool School award winner button for the school Web site. Cool School award winners are also eligible to win the title of "Cool School of the Year."
In fact, all winners from 1997 will be competing for that "Yearly" Cool School award.
We will be naming the Cool School of the Year winner this Spring and will also shortly be announcing the prestigious panel of judges and other specifics to the competition.
