Printing With
Internet Explorer

No one can waste paper faster than an over-eager student printing from the Web. Save trees, ink, and your sanity by teaching students how to print only the information they need.

Be Firm
Approve all printing from the Web.

Always -- and especially at the beginning of the year -- require students to check with you before they print anything from the Internet. You then can decide whether they need to print a few important facts, an entire Web page, or several pages of a Web site.

Be Picky
Teach students how to select information.

Explain to students that to print only a few words or a single picture, they highlight the information or graphic with the mouse, click File>Print, and then click the Selection button!

Be Greedy
Teach students how to print it all.

If a must-print Web page includes links to other must-print Web pages, you can print both the original Web page and the pages linked to it in a single action: Go to File>Print, select the Option tab, check the Print all Linked Documents box, and then click OK.
