Thanks to their extensive educational apps and capabilities, iPads are becoming more popular in classrooms. But could there be some serious competition on the horizon?
Amazon has announced a new product in its popular Kindle line, the Kindle Fire. It's a full-color tablet with e-reader capabilities, Web browsing, apps and the ability to stream TV and movies. Users can even read formatted books and magazines in color.
Priced at $199, this seems like it will be an affordable alternative to Apple's iPad ... but will it be a game changer for schools?

Will the more affordable price, combined with Amazon's well-known and trusted platform, make this product a serious competitor for the iPad? Or is this just another wannabe that will come and go?
