iPad App Review: Endless Alphabet

App Name:  Endless Alphabet

Cost:  $6.99

What does it promise?  Endless Alphabet promises to “set the stage for reading success.” The app’s creators claim it’s a way for kids to have fun learning the alphabet while “building vocabulary with the adorable monsters in Endless Alphabet.” Each word features an interactive puzzle game with talking letters and a short animation illustrating the definition.

The app offers over 50 words to learn and play with, along with animations that teach kids the definitions of the words. The game, according to its creators “was designed with your children in mind—there are no high scores, failures, limits or stress. Your children can interact with the app at their own pace.”

Does it deliver?  The app is very simple, but engaging enough that young kids may not even realize they’re learning the alphabet.

Can I use it in my classroom?  This app is aimed at kids in the very early stages of learning to read, but for that targeted group, it’s a great tool.
