In the Spirit of the Season...

It's the gift-giving season, so this week Education World offers a sleigh load of "gifts" to our readers!

To start you off, Education World has wrapped up two CURRICULUM stories that explore some of the best free materials available for educators.

In the last six months we've written to dozens of companies and groups offering free teaching materials, and this week we offer details about a dozen of the best! We look at materials across the grades and the curriculum. You'll find story-writing materials for primary students and materials to help high schoolers understand our monetary system. You'll read about a free resource for science experiments for middle graders and great geography resources for all grades. And that's just the beginning!

To learn more about these free resources just unwrap:

  • Another story this week will hold special interest for technology coordinators and school administrators. This story reports on a new program that helps schools earn free, top-quality computers, printers, and software. To learn more about the ETCEP program, open up

  • This week, we also invited principals to sit on Santa's lap and to tell him what one gift they most want this holiday season for their schools. Their responses offer insight into the state of education and schools' needs around the world. You'll find our principals' Wish Lists at

Happy holidays from everybody at Education World!
