"On the first day of school," says Fred Jones, "the second question in most students' minds is, Who are they?
If you think students all know one another, Jones suggests you try this activity: Hand out a blank seating chart and ask students to fill in the first and last names of everyone in the class. Rarely will the number of correct papers exceed 25 percent.
Introduce students to one another at the beginning of the school year with some simple Icebreaker activities.
