This reward program is based on the red-yellow-green traffic light concept. Students start each day with a Green Light. (Index cards with colored dots or construction paper circles can serve as student traffic lights.) Poor choices during the day require students to exchange their Green Light for a Yellow Light, or ultimately for a Red Light. Good choices can move students from Red to Yellow and back to Green as well. At the end of the day, students record their final color on a small behavior calendar. When a student records 10 green lights on his or her calendar, award that student an incentive of some sort.
